I Paint foam (E-Z) masks with floral spray, how can I get finer detail for shadowing?

either an airbrush or soft masking.To soft mask cut the shape you want to spray out of paper,cardboard or acetate.Hold it above the piece and spray through it.(in other words make a stencil and hold it above the mask)
