What floral arrangements or centerpieces can I do with Tiffany Blue?

I really want to have a Tiffany Blue wedding but I'm not sure what floral arrangements or centerpieces that will look good. I love fresh flowers so I would like to have them. My colors are Tiffany Blue and Brown.

What floral arrangements or centerpieces can I do with Tiffany Blue?
Talk to a florist-they have really creative ideas.
Reply:Pale pink looks lovely with the tiff's blue and brown. Imagine glass cube vases with soft pink spray roses, soft pink stock, white hydrangea, white roses, soft pink waxflower, queen annes lace for a beautiful romantic garden look... brown napkins... A favor wrapped like a tiffanys box with the white bow at each plate. to tie in the look.. :-)
Reply:Try some of these ideas:

1. Tiffany blue daisies:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/tiffanyblu...

2. http://www.wedding-decoration-idea.com/a...

"**For a more dramatic, striking decor, match up the Tiffany blue with shiny black and silver. Go with a formal theme for this - pure elegance with sleek centerpieces. Skip the flowers and float balloons at each table - black, white and Tiffany blue.

**Deep, rich jewel tones are a wonderful accent to the bright sky blue of Tiffany boxes. Try a shimmering satin in burgundy, or a rich, deep emerald.

**For a more lighthearted look, choose jellybean green and white to set off the aqua. Play it out with favors of Lucite gift boxes filled with JellyBelly jellybeans in honeydew and berry, all wrapped up with a Tiffany blue satin bow.

**Create a backdrop for white flowers and blue ribbons with chocolate brown tablecloths. Fill Tiffany blue round bandboxes with chocolates, and top with tulle-wrapped Jordan almonds in blue and white."

3. Go with baby pastels or white flowers, and accent with tiffany blue crystals, ribbon or even glitter

4. A large, clear glass candleholder (hurricane lantern type?) in the center of the table with tiffany blue glass beads in the bottom and a white candle would be beautiful for a centerpiece.

5. Or, a large martini glass filled with blue jellybeans and/or blue jordan almonds...

6. http://weddings.theknot.com/odb/Results....
Reply:Blue conveys peace and tranquility. I would go with a lot of white and a few pale blue flowers in the arrangement in a translucent vase. You can fill the vase with marbles or colored stones which add a nice touch too.
Reply:Examples of other Tiffany Blue weddings:

http://www.brides.com/weddingstyle/decor...

http://www.brides.com/weddingstyle/decor...

***http://www.brides.com/weddingstyle/decor... MY FAVE!***
Reply:I would use a cream coloured rose or other type of flower it also depends on the month ,you could perhaps save some money if a flower is in season. Keep your arrangements low .

Congratulations!
Reply:I think it would be best to stick with shades of creme for your flowers. Larger arrangmeents of calla lilies, peonies, roses, and tulips would look lovely in a silver urn or caniset. Mix in some foliage of hanging green armathus and greens.

Have some cystal sparys through out the arrangments, table top linens in Tiffany blue with brown napkins and silver chargers would be lovely.

How to clean a floral pick machine?

I would rinse the flower sap with warm water. I would get a bucket of warm water and car soap. With old toothbrushes and pipe cleaners I would get the rest of the grime. I would rinse the whole thing down and dry with a hair drier. I would then oil everything that rotates or moves with a light sewing machine oil.

The dress is for a wedding at the end of this month. It is my fiance's brothers wedding and i have only met a couple of his family members. i need to make a good impression, but dont want to go with the traditional black and white (too boring). I need help QUICK!! Please!

What color shoes should i wear with a black and white print dress (kind of floral print)?
I would say black but with another color. Black white and lavender would be nice.
Reply:Of course black patton leather shoes would be the best, but you can go with reds, preferably a maroon tone so that you don't dazzle your company too much. Make sure you have a smashing bag to match, a black Coach would be nice.
Reply:bronze colors shoes like these

Reply:Pretty much any color. Black or white would look nice, but so would red, yellow, or pink. Just don't look too flashy. That won't make a good impression.
Reply:Preferably black, put the colour in your hair otherwise you are drawing attention to your feet. Otherwise go for red.

When using stones and sand in a floral arrangement do i put the sand in first?

is there a way to layer them without having the sand run to the bottom of the vase? any sites for directions would be appreciated thanks

When using stones and sand in a floral arrangement do i put the sand in first?
No put the flowers in first to hold them up then a layer of sand then gravel then more sand then more gravel until you have enough layers. Then finish off with sand. The sand will filter into the gravel but you will get the look of different layers because the layers with the sand and gravel will have a different look and texture because of the gravel.

How does one become a "Certified Floral Designer"?

I'm a college student studying marketing, and I'm a cake decorator on the side. I want to learn the above for a few reasons, and was curious where do I start? I'm in Ohio (just in case that applies to something).

How does one become a "Certified Floral Designer"?
It would depend if you want to go further in the cake decorating field you would become a sugar artist. So if you could find a group or association in your state. It would probably be under confectioners. You could contact a few and ask around.

Where can I take a floral arrangement (amateur) class in the Atlanta, GA metro area?

My mother and I would like to take a class in floral arrangement. But, we are not trying to be certified or anything too major. Maybe a few weeks of classes a couple times a week. We're taking a cake decorating class at Michael's, but they don't have floral classes going on right now. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Where can I take a floral arrangement (amateur) class in the Atlanta, GA metro area?
Your local high school may offer a night course in flower arranging. Also, local garden centers often do this, so you may wish to call around to the nurseries in your area. Also try the co-operative extension for your county, because they may also offer a course. Have fun!

Why do we have floral emblem and national animal ?

I would like to know the purpose(s) for having all these . Thanks in advance.

Why do we have floral emblem and national animal ?
Well, Jennifer, it goes back a long way. It is mostly custom, now. But it is the same as having a national flag. It is just part of the identity of a nation or people that they have chosen for themselves. It may reflect their history, geography, or just national pride. Same goes for the individual state emblems of the U.S.,...or the tartans of the old Scottish Clans. People just like symbols for themselves.

Where to buy floral oasis ball in singapore?
There is a shop off the lobby of the Conrad Centennial Hotel in Marina Bay district that has what you want.
Reply:Go to your nearest florist or flower shop and ask to buy a floral oasis in the shape of a ball. There are different sizes, so be ready with this information. If the florist doesn't have it, it can refer you to another florist or where to find it. If you need it soon, you can buy the oasis block and make it to shape like a ball.

When are floral pattern heels appropriate?

My mom gave me these really cute floral pattern heels for my birthday. They are predominately white with a bit of red trim, and patent leather. I would not normally venture into anything beyond solids and the occasional animal print so I am not even sure when to wear these.

When are floral pattern heels appropriate?
You can wear them with shorts or capris (jean or white) and a cute top that's accented in red (or a solid red). Or you can wear them with jeans or white pants with a red shirt (or accented red shirt). Think about a red skirt with a white top or white top with a red skirt, etc.
Reply:Try them with a medium pink dress =D it may look cute!
Reply:Its spring time %26amp; florals r a must...i suggest getting a solid sundress red or nautical blue would probably b some good colors...play it up w/ fun bright girly jewelry!
Reply:i can't find them on the website but they sound as if they would suit a cute white dress or white skinnys and red top.
Reply:Find spring colored sun dresses with sun hats to go with them %26amp; now is the time till the end of summer
Reply:Wear them if they fit the outfit. For example, I have white/red floral heels so I wear them with a simple black skirt, and a red v-neck t-shirt over a white lacey cami.
Reply:My general rule with florals are -- if it's blooming outside, it's fine to wear. If not, save it for later.
Reply:with a plain white ( or a color from the pattern on the shoes) dress out to dinner with mom or with a denim skirt out to the mall to boy watch with your friends. Maybe save the white dress and those shoes to a church function.
Reply:You should wear them in the springtime, like NOW!, and you should only wear them with a solid dress or else the pattern will clash!
Reply:Springtime and with solids...

You can wear them anywhere except in business situations and funerals (unless you are wearing a red dress and singing "Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead!"}

Floral design 8. Which one of the following statements about standard foam is true?

8. Which one of the following statements about standard foam is true?

B. The water it holds doesn't evaporate normally.

C. Once a foam brick is soaked, no additional water can be added to the container.

D. A foam brick can't stand any higher than its container.

Floral design 8. Which one of the following statements about standard foam is true?
Water evaporates fairly normally from floral foam and generally there is additional water around the fully soaked foam in the container. As the water evaporates, you add more. Although I prefer that the floral foam not rise above the container, I have seen it done depending on the arrangement.

What ever happened to the floral pattern or pastel colored toilet paper that they used to sell in the market?

I can't find it anywhere nowadays.

What ever happened to the floral pattern or pastel colored toilet paper that they used to sell in the market?
fell out of fashion is the main reason
Reply:Some of the dyes used to color the paper caused irritation to people's 'sensitive' areas, and dumped more chemicals into the sewage treatment facilities.

The dyes also supposedly made the paper harder to break down. More clogs in people's homes, and then even more difficulties in the sewage treatment plants.
Reply:I know--I liked it, too. I think most of them went to white because it is supposed to be better for the environment. Probably cheaper to make anyway.

And have you noticed how the double, extra, mega rolls are really about the same size or maybe just a bit fatter than what a regular roll is supposed to be, and the "regular" rolls seem really chinchy?!

The only brand I know that still makes the printed kind is Angel Soft, but not every store carries it--sometimes I can find it, sometimes I can't. I was able to find their website (link below), and it looks like they have a product locator search engine so that you can find stores that carry their products in your zip code. They also have embossed design on their white rolls that is kind of pretty compared to plain smooth rolls. Hope that helps, and wish I was getting paid for the endorsement!!

WOW

that's compassionate. . . . . .
Reply:Wow, I thought I heard of everything, but dang, that is the wackiest stuff I have ever heard of. Man I am not even sure what to say. Do you charge your children rent to live in your home? Why do people think that they can claim anything on their taxes? Do you claim an energy credit every time you breath out because it warms the air?
Reply:No, you can't deduct it as a gift of any sort. If you are self-employed, you could deduct it as a business expense.
Reply:wow. people judge the heck out of you here but i bet they claim all their children as dependents ( you could argue how unloving they are because they use their kids to lower their taxes.) i bet they deduct any donations they made to their churches (you could argue they only give god money so they can lower their own taxes...and look good to their priest)...

dont feel bad about what these people have said.

....look i have no idea what your relationship with your boss was like...but if the floral arrangement was an unrembursed employee expense then you can deduct it. if it was a gift of sorts, then no you cant deduct it.

What are the newest and most cost effective for floral centerpieces, for a summer tent wedding?

I'm planning a wdiing for mid July, on a Sat. night in a tent. The overall effect will be formal, as the tent will be draped with creme organza, the tables will have an overlay of sheer ivory, w/ gold ribbon entwined, and the tble will be adorned w/gold charger plates, etc. I need some ideas for a very sophisticated centerpiece,(Low on the table) and need some suggestions. Is Green hydrangea, viburnum, creme and or coral peonies available in July?..And what kind of container and style? Thanks.

What are the newest and most cost effective for floral centerpieces, for a summer tent wedding?
go to a floral shop, and ask [if it's family owned their usually is someone in the family]even if its not there full time job that would have great ideas, and give you their full attenion, for a small fee of course!
Reply:We're doing flower blooms in water w/ gems or rocks on the bottom of a bubble bowl.
Reply:I can help you with wedding ideas, plans, ect. I started a wedding coordinator business after I planned my own wedding WAYYY under the budget!

My website is: http://tianataylorweddings.bravehost.com...

You can also email me at: ttweddings@sbcglobal.net

I'd be glad to help!
Reply:Green hydrangea and peonies may still be available, but it will be pushing it. You may have to find a florist willing to search for you, and you may have to pay a little more.

Is this an air conditioned tent? What state? How hot will it be?

These things will affect the flowers. With regard to container and look I would do a very contemporary, elegant,hi-style look with minimal flowers in an a-asymmetrical shape.

CARNATIONS
Reply:Carnations are ultra cheap and can by dyed to fit any color.

For greenery try baby's breath.
Reply:Whatever's "in season" %26amp; you can get your hands on. At THIS time of year- there's usually quite a bit... Shop around.
Reply:Baby's breath or daisies.

There are always the free ones, dandylions. :)
Reply:Babys breath is a great gap filler. (It's those sprigs of little white flowers) Also daffidols are cheap when in season, and Iris's last for a long time when cared for.

Palm fronds cut to size and shape are great behind flowers in a vase.
Reply:Carnations
Reply:They don't come much cheaper than the next door neighbours garden. Or, if you are looking for something a bit more exotic, check out the local botanical gardens :)
Reply:The ferns from asparagus are beautiful for greenery as well. I also use boxwood for greenery. As far as flowers, carnations last very well.
Reply:Try Gerbera Daisies. They're inexpensive to grow yourself and they have a long shelf life in a flower arrangement. They're also sturdy and versatile. Remember to include plastic tubes over the stems of Gerberas because they continue to grow long after they've been cut and placed into a flower arrangement. Leather leaf fern is one of the most popular and versatile choices for greenery. Good luck to you.
Reply:Carnations are beautiful and fairly cheap!
Reply:carnations! mums! both fairly inexpensive and you can tint them to whatevr color you choose.

simply add a drop or two of food coloring to the water they are in and the flower will change color!

daisies and freesia are fairly inexpensive as well.

and for greenery use greenery out of your garden! whether it be from a small shrub, tree, or wild growth, its free and works well!

have fun with your flower arranging.
Reply:carnations-very cheap and you can ask them to dye them in any color

and babys breathe for greenery
Reply:Here are a few...

White:

Statice or Misty Statice (misty has a touch of purple)

Stock (smells great)

Baby's Breath

Mum's (many colors %26amp; last a long time)

Greenery:

Aparagus fern

Leather fern

Difference between a floral designer and a florist?

I want to work in the floristry industry when I leave school but I don't know what jobs to think about. At the moment I work part-time at a florist, just basic stuff like cleaning, watering, making some bouquets and little arrangements, taking orders, etc.

Difference between a floral designer and a florist?
The US Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics has an online version of their Occupational Outlook Handbook.

They have a section on Floral Designers which provides detail on the industry. http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos292.htm

First section reprinted below, see article for complete information

Nature of the Work

Floral designers, or florists, cut live, dried, or silk flowers and other greenery and arrange them into displays of various sizes and shapes. These workers design these displays by selecting flowers, containers, and ribbons and arranging them into bouquets, corsages, centerpieces of tables, wreaths, and the like for weddings, funerals, holidays, and other special occasions. Some floral designers also use accessories such as balloons, candles, toys, candy, and gift baskets as part of their displays.

Job duties often vary by employment setting. Most floral designers work in small independent floral shops that specialize in custom orders and also handle large orders for weddings, caterers, or interior designers. Floral designers may meet with customers to discuss the arrangement or work from a written order. They note the occasion, the customer’s preferences, the price of the order, the time the floral display or plant is to be ready, and the place to which it is to be delivered. For special occasions, floral designers usually will help set up floral decorations. Floral designers also will prearrange a few displays to have available for walk-in customers or last-minute orders. Some floral designers also assist interior designers in creating live or silk displays for hotels, restaurants, and private residences.

A number of floral designers, also known as florists, work in the floral departments of grocery stores or for Internet florists, which specialize in creating prearranged floral decorations and bouquets. These floral retailers also may fill small custom orders for special occasions and funerals, but some grocery store florists do not deliver to clients or handle large custom orders.

Florists who work for wholesale flower distributors assist in the selection of different types of flowers and greenery to purchase and sell to retail florists. Wholesale floral designers also select flowers for displays that they use as examples for retail florists.

Self-employed floral designers must handle the various aspects of running their own businesses, such as selecting and purchasing flowers, hiring and supervising staff, and maintaining financial records. Self-employed designers also may run gift shops or wedding consultation businesses in addition to providing floral design services. Some conduct design workshops for amateur gardeners or others with an interest in floral design.

Could you enumerate some plants, fruits or anything inexpensive that are alternatives for floral preservative?

any ideas?

Could you enumerate some plants, fruits or anything inexpensive that are alternatives for floral preservative?
The only floral preserative I am aware of is a drop or two of purex in the vase of flowers. It kills any bacteria in the water.

Clean the vase daily, and change the water.

I have not a clue of any plants or fruits used for floral preservatives. The willow tree is commonly used as a plant growth hormone.

A commerical over the counter product is also available at your grocery store.

Looking for a inexpensive wholesale floral shop?
With no offense to you or any other answers certainly a general search in the WWW using your browser and keywords would likely turn up a few places.

Chicago is no different than any other major city in that it has Hundreds/Thousands, of vendors of all manner of goods and services.

Your greater issue however, may be getting a wholesaler to actually sell to you.
Reply:Do NOT order from onlinewholesaleflowers.com. They sent me half of my order without notification and the flowers I did receive were brown/dead. Now they are offering me store credit for the flowers I didn't receive. Too bad my wedding is already over. I think there are some good companies out there to order from, but stear clear of Online Wholesale Flowers.

Where can i get floral supplies?

I live in san francisco, does anyone know in what kind of stores can I buy florists tape and like wires?

Where can i get floral supplies?
Michaels is the first national craft store that comes to mind. Just type that name in your browser, go to the Michaels website, use their store locater button to find a store near you.

But, really, any craft store should carry florists tape %26amp; wire. If that doesn't work, call or stop by a florist shop to ask them where they get theirs from.
Reply:Michaels is a good one....

Walmart even has the tape %26amp; wires.

Starting pussy willows in floral foam? Anyone heard of or tried that?

I recieved a flower arrangement with pussy willows in it a couple of weeks ago.

After the flowers died, I went to throw out the arrangement and the pussywillows had sprouted leaves!

When I pulled the branches from the foam, there were small white roots running through the foam.

My question is, if I tried to do this ON PURPOSE next year, would it work again, and what would I need to add to the water that the foam block is soaked in?

You can simply start pussy willows in a jar of water. Just let them sit there until they sprout(give fresh water every few days) then plant them in some potting soil in a container. They sprout easily.

I wouldn't leave them in the foam.

I have a huge pussy willow tree and I put some in a vase with just water in they all sprouted.

You can dry pussy willlows out and they are good in dry arrangements.
Reply:Pussy willows can just be placed in water and they will root. It is one of the easier plants to root. They are ready for planting when roots reach a couple of inches long. I rooted a few this spring, stuck them in the ground, haven't had to tend to them since. They are extremely easy to grow and you can cut them back each season if you like and they will return more full each year.

Can you dye a darker fabric with a floral print a lighter color?

So... I am getting married in September and found these cheap 120" round linen tablecloths. They are a terrible print but, for the price I am willing to buy them if I can fix them. I am not sure if there is any way of lightening them. If I bleach them they might come out all splotchy. There are 20 of them. They are pretty large. They are beige with burgundy roses some greenery and blue flowers on them. Since my wedding colors are chocolate, dusty rose and ivory..yeah...I need to either get them ivory or just dye them chocolate brown! Which I don't want them brown...cause it's gonna cost alot to buy that much RIT dye! hmmmm...any suggestions on how to get them lighter...technique wise that is??? Did I mention these 20 tablecloths were only $50.00...yeah...see why i'm trying to work with them?? P.S. Wedding's are expensive...ya have to try to save somehow.

Can you dye a darker fabric with a floral print a lighter color?
Forget it. If you try to dye them Everything will come out the color of the dye, some lighter and darker areas where the print is

Is a floral business from home a good idea for a single mom?

I like the idea of being home with my kids but want to make sure I'll make enough money to support us.

I live in a metropolitan area so I think there is a lot of business around here, probably a lot of competition, too.

Is a floral business from home a good idea for a single mom?
I highly recommend considering the YTB opportunity. It was presented to me as an mlm travel business; however, I discovered that it is an excellent, legitimate way to save money on travel/entertainment, and make a very nice second income.

For a very small investment, you would have your own travel website that would earn you very generous commissions when you book your own airline tickets, hotel reservations, concert and events tickets, send flowers, etc. The website site is well designed, easy to use, and equivalent to the major online booking agents, i.e. Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia. You can take a look at my website at: www.travelsmartworldwide.com.

My husband and I are both successful professionals, and we vacation in Cape Cod, NYC, and Rhode Island several times per year. We became interested in YTB just for the savings and tax advantages. Within a very short period of time, it has become as lucrative as having a home-based business and with minimal effort.

I would be very happy to share more information with you, and help you get started.
Reply:Good for you . I've seen ppl do it before.. the floral biz is great.. There is alot of ppl out there that can't afford floral store prices so keep it down since you will not have rent and store costs... Also visit many photographers, and other vendors advertise with them because they are great referral sources. Focus on a venue.. because the word of mouth is great. For example Quinceanera's are a big thing in the Hispanic community and there is plenty of $$ being spent there for floral arrangements even as big as weddings..
Reply:Not if you suffer from hayfever.
Reply:i would start out small still having your other job and doing the flural job on the weekends and if the business starts to boom and you make enough money without the other job then quite and make it your only job.
Reply:Make sure you investigate it first. Call other flower shops and see if you can ask the owners some questions. Find out how much inventory you would need to carry and how much money after expenses you can expect to clear off of each job.

Once you have the facts on paper it will look more clear to you about whether this is something that could be profitable or not.

Hope that helps,

Alicia
Reply:Yeah i think its a good idea but you'd have to look at the practical side of things too such as:- you'd need to be able to drive to the market for your flowers and supplies very very early so your kids will need someone to stay over on market days and unless that person is a very good friend or family member you'll have to pay them. Are your kids old to understand that they're not to touch your finished work or play with your stapler and spray paints? Have you got a spare room you can work from? Can you cope with a large funeral order on your own and can you deliver? As for the competition, you'd need to make a few inquiries as to their costs for various arrangements and undercut them. Its a very satisfying job and financially rewarding but its also very hard work. I hope if you do go ahead with it that it all turns out well for you, good luck.
Reply:First thing you'll need to do is go to your city gov't offices to see if your area is zoned for commercial business. You probably will have to apply for a license. Next write up a business proposal/business plan to present to your bank or loan company so you can get money to start up your business. Your home may need some remodeling to fit coolers, etc if you plan to have fresh florals. Then there is contacting floral companies for supplies, opening a bank account, finding an accountant, stocking your supplies, etc, etc, etc. Don't want to discourage you, but have you done all your homework regarding owning a business by yourself. It's not easy to do that these days--the competition is fierce out there, and unless you have a plan and the know-how, you may be disappointed. It might be easier for you to run a baby-sitting service or daycare in your home--easier to get a license, too.

Where do I learn how to design floral arrangements?

I'd like to go to work in a flower shop and I have some natural talent for flower arrangements but I'd like to learn other thinks like doing funeral arrangements and other stuff. Where can I go to learn how to do flower arrangements like they would do in a flower shop?

Where do I learn how to design floral arrangements?
Have you considered checking with a local Florist for info, or perhaps to work as an unpaid intern with one?
Reply:It just depends on where you live. You might check with community colleges in the area. Ours offers those classes for fun sometimes in the summer. Also, you might check in the newspaper once in awhile or even ask flowershops.
Reply:Some Greenhouses and Floral shops will offer training, also ITT will offer classes thru floral shops.

Natural ability is half the battle, working with live flowers is totally different that silks, plus they will teach you to arrange on a numerical pattern, which I don't like...
Reply:Go to your local community college. They have affordable classes on many such topics.

How long is appropriate to keep funeral floral arrangements?

My boss passed away and some people sent flowers to the workplace, how long should i leave them out before taking them down? I don't want to be disrespectful and take them down too early, then again don't want to be tacky and leave them out too long.

How long is appropriate to keep funeral floral arrangements?
I really don't think there's a set rule. You may want to offer them to your boss's family, %26amp; if they say no thanks, just go ahead %26amp; take them down.

I don't think you'll offend anyone. Everyone else may be thinking the same thing! Besides if the flowers are starting to die, that may make everyone more depressed, anyway. Good question, tho. Sorry about your loss. :(
Reply:donate them to a hospital, you may brighten some poor dying persons day?
Reply:If everybody loved your boss, you could dry them and put them in a clear jar and make it a decoration for everyone to remember. It'll just look like potpourri to customers.

I did this with my mother's flowers from her funeral.
Reply:Take them down when they are wilted.
Reply:Well, if they are green plants you can repot them if necessary and keep them out. That's nice. As far as the flowers go, they die pretty quickly. I'd say toss them out once they are no longer attractive.
Reply:hell , keep them til they rot. I never could figure out why epople send flowers when someone dies. The flowers die eventually and it looks really depressing..a buncha dead flowers cluttering up your home.
Reply:I'd keep them up as long as they look good. You can also toss the bad blooms and consolidate the good ones into fewer vases. Make sure you save the cards and see that the family gets them so they can send a "thank-you." If the family hasn't seen them, I'd put a brief description of the arrangement on the back of the card so, when they respond, they can refer to a particular flower, i.e. "and the Gerber daisies were beautiful."
Reply:cut flowers should be got rid of when they look dead or start to look that way . live plants should be cared for as best as possible and if its not possible for them to make it in the building then send them to the wife / husband or give them to someone you know was friends with the boss

after you remove the cut flowers some of the cards could arranged in a nice way and kept in place for a longer time say one month or 3 weeks after a new boss comes in .
Reply:leave them for two weeks unless the flowers die or start to smell bad. usually one or 2 weeks u should keep them but keep a Pic of him or her.Or ask your co workers .
Reply:A week and a half to two weeks.
Reply:i'd say a week
Reply:When they turn ratty looking--ditch them.
Reply:Until they die.
Reply:You can keep them until they are fresh...and yes you can also donate good Ono's to the old people houses or hospitals. It will fresh up someone else place as well.
Reply:less than a week
Reply:Until they are passed their best. It seems such a shame to throw them when they are still good.
Reply:Offer them to the family %26amp; if they refuse or suggest you keep or dispose of the flowers/plants, then leave them out. I kept 2 of the floral arrangements from my grandma's funeral until they dried up, about a month. I also have the fern that a distant relative sent in a big pot on my side porch. It's thriving %26amp; doing well.

If the flowers start to look wilted, droopy or you notice an odor, then toss them out. Otherwise, keep them out until the flowers are dried out.
Reply:I'd leave them until they start looking wilty. Then toss 'em.

What colour shirt should I buy to go with a yellow and gold floral tie?

The tie goes perfectly with a white shirt, but none of my others. Any ideas? I normally wear a charcoal suit.

What colour shirt should I buy to go with a yellow and gold floral tie?
It has got to be a white shirt with a stiff collar so none of the tie shows under it. White will best show the tie color, and at the same time nicely compliment your charcoal suit. You might get away with a gray shirt, but I doubt it. Any other color would look garishly silly. No! Stick with white. You will not regret it.
Reply:White shirts are always the best!!!
Reply:red
Reply:Yellow- the same shade as the tie.
Reply:change the tie...!!! lol
Reply:black or black
Reply:it sounds out there, but what about a deep royal purple? purple and gold go good.
Reply:black not yellow not green not red purple maybe

Seen floral arrangements w/real fruit in vase. is there a preservative used for this?

I've seen lovely flower arrangements with real fruit in the glass vase. How do you preserve the fruit that is covered with water? In particular I saw one with lemon slices in water and yellow roses in the vase.

Seen floral arrangements w/real fruit in vase. is there a preservative used for this?
I've seen those in our lobby but they never last long. Maybe they just go bad and there is no secret. Try nice looking plastic fruit?
Reply:H2O is the preservative, Im sure the dissolved oxygen levels in the water are very small, and oxygen is what what starts breaking them down. They dont last very long though.

Cheers!

Where can I find an inexpensive floral prom dress?

I want the dress to have a "fishtail", meaning it flares at the bottom. I would like bright psychodelic colors and print.

Where can I find an inexpensive floral prom dress?
If you have a Deb Store near you check that out. It carries junior style clothing and plus sizes as well as shoes and purses and accessories. I bought almost all of my formal dresses there. Depending on when you go in, there are incredible sales. One of my dresses was marked down to $15 from $100. The most I paid for a $150 dress was about $35-$50. I'm from Michigan so I'm not sure where other Deb Stores are located but I'd check there if you have one.

Using Floral Foam, Do I need to add water to the vase, or is there enough water from what it soaks up?

They will be used as centerpieces and the flowers need to last for about 8 hours.

Using Floral Foam, Do I need to add water to the vase, or is there enough water from what it soaks up?
The foam absorbs a lot of water itself, but 8 hours ought to be okay for what the foam absorbs.
Reply:You need to soak the floral foam until it is saturated before you use it. Then put it in the container, then arrange the flowers, then top up if necessary.
Reply:Yes, you will need to add water but the kind of flowers will make a difference. I would never leave a centerpiece that long without checking it.
Reply:add a quarter cup, unless directed otherwise on a package.
Reply:you should add water just in case, you never know how fast the water will evaporate!
Reply:I have a vase with floral foam in it and we kept water in it so it wouldn't dry it out. i don't really know if thats what we should do or not, just trying to help.
Reply:you can add water in the vase..its not going to hurt it..and it will keep the floral foam from drying out...everytime i have gotten flowers with floral foam its been in water...

Why is my girlfriend infatuated with dressing me in floral?

My girlfriend donated and thrown away all my clothes recently and replaced everything with floral pattern and design, from floral skirts, dress, tee, shoes to underwear, tights with floral lace etc except no jeans and trousers, which are banned by her. I am happy to dress in floral but I am just wondering why is she obsessed with dressing me like a flower?:)

http://www.neigo.com

You can do both blog and upload your photo images for free here. They have very good security for images and blog post. If you set your album or post as private, other user can not see your album's images or post unless you allow them to see it. Best of all, the message and feedback feature allow you to contact your friend or other user directly easily. After you sign up, your URL address will be "username.neigo.com". Easy to remember and you can share it with your friends. Customise themes and title allow you to set up your personal style for the interface. For business part, they have good interacting tools such like message and feedback that allow other user to contact you freely.
Reply:Don't forget to post an ad on Craigslist.org. I know that's not a blog site but it is free exposure for the business.

What brand are those pretty floral-patterned boots I keep seeing?

The gorgeous ones I saw today were blue, about halfway to the knee, so basically mid-shin. They were blue with buttons on the side and looked like an either plastic or shiny fabric material? I am not sure as I did not get close enough to look.

Sorry my question may seem quite vague but if you have any idea what brand these were, please tell me. I'd die for those boots!

Maybe they're Sugar Morigami?...now that i think about it there are no buttons on Morigami boots..Sorry! Ill keep looking around.

If one is interested in Floral Design as a career, which would be most pretigious school/college to attend?
This site will give you a lot of information about the floral design business: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos292.htm

This site gives a list of floral design schools by state: http://www.floralshops.net/floralschools...

If you're looking for prestige, the Vermont Academy of Floral Design is well known and respected. Here is a link to their home page: http://www.vafd.com/

You will find that most certifications come from workshops and seminars held by Master Florists, either through their own shops or at venues scattered across the country. Some Master Florists do some spectacular event, like designing for Disneyland or the Rose Bowl Parade, or a celebrity wedding, and spend the rest of their careers, not in floral design but in instruction. Many make instructional videos (and do not discount these; many are excellent).

Prestige is earned. Membership in a number of floral designer associations like the AIFD (American Institute of Floral Designers) doesn't hurt. These are the letters you see Master Florists display after their names, like AIFD, AAF, FMSD, etc.
