godaddy.com, the best place for all you website needs!
Reply:I bought the book "Creating Web Pages for Dummies" by Bud Smith and Arthur Bebak , 5th edition and published by IDG Books Worldwide out of Chicago and New York among other places. It comes with a CD-ROM that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to build a website, advertise it, add music and graphics, etc. It was $24.99 in the US; $37.99 in Canada, and 23.99 Pounds in the UK.

The CD plays on Windows 95 or later, Windows NT4 or later, or a 68040 Mac running O.S.7.5.5 or later (all Greek to me. LOL)

Then, if you need lessons in this , there is another book called "HTML 4 For Dummies," too. I got this latter one to try to write my own codes for MySpace layouts, but haven't had the courage. HA.

You can get these at any bookstore (maybe even newer editions because I've had the Web Pages book for a couple years at least), through Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, etc.

Reply:It is better to contact any local web designer for your website. If you want write your own, you have to take some more time to learn HTML, CSS, javascript and if you want server side scripting, you need to learn some other server script also.

Try to following sites to learn
Reply:go for professional.
Reply:5 years ago I would have said go on do it yourself. I have changed my mind since. It is not that learning what you need is hard it shouldn't be and it was ment originally to be easy. The problem is in the details. If you have the time to learn things like web standards, unobtrusive JavaScript, CSS and a server side scripting language like Ruby or PHP then I encourage you to do it on you own. The problem is that most business don't have the time. There also some issues now that were not a problem several years ago that as web website owner you shoulb be aware of. I am going to send you to several resources so that you are an educated consumer. They also will give you an idea of what you need beyond the basics of HTML and layout. Go to this site http://www.boagworld.com/standards this is a presentation about standards presented in a way that a lay person can understand. After that look at http://www.gotomedia.com/downloads/clien... This is a link to a checklist it is aimed at redesign but some of the same issues should be examined at the initial design time. Finally there are now legal issues that need to considered this link http://www.nfb.org/nfb/NewsBot.asp?MODE=... is about a ruling against Target concerning their accessability to the blind. A very good site to learn about this issue is http://www.webaim.org. A checklist is also available from the W3C at http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/full...
