How can I open a home base floral shop and if it's convenient to do it ?

The problem with a floral shop in a home setting are two fold:

- your home owners association and whether they allow cars coming and going into the neighborhood and parking on the street

- zoning laws in your area

With a floral shop, you want customers to come to the shop. As such, you will need parking, you need a place in your home that can be used as a showroom without sacrificing (and exposing your personal spaces in the house). A separate entrance to your showroom and your house is very important (you don't want customers wandering into your bedroom or worse, your jewelry box!).

Your house must be properly configured to accomodate a floral shop, and that means lots of space for your refrigeration to keep the flowers fresh as well as a big work area where you can create your floral designs

Zoning boards typically turn a blind eye on home based businesses, but NOT when neighbors start to complain that too many cars are going into the neigborhood. That's when they make a big deal out of your home business -- and worse, even take you to court to close down your business. You have to get first the permission of your zoning county board before you start operating your floral shop.

Also, you have to think of liability insurance -- what if a customer slips on your pavement and cracks his head and sues you? You need to be able to prepare for these eventually. This is America, afterall, where everyone sues everyone for even the stupidest reason.
